Job Summary

We are looking for a hard-working and dedicated licensed electrician and facilities technician to join our Thanksgiving Point Facilities Team at one of the most unique and exciting places to work in Utah. Thanksgiving Point Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit farm, garden, and museum complex, and includes 5 venue experiences across two campuses, several restaurants, catering, public and private events, and over 20 buildings. The individual in this role will be responsible for performing repairs, inspections, maintenance and occasional installations or renovations on electrical systems to ensure safety, functionality, and code compliance. Candidates should have extensive electrical experience and be comfortable working with 120V-480V electrical circuits, electric motors and equipment, reading blueprints and very knowledgeable on code compliance. Electrical work is the most important part of this role, but some experience in additional trades and a desire to learn is necessary. While not performing electrician tasks, the person in this role is expected to complete a variety of other work orders as assigned and assist other facilities staff with projects and maintenance. Company supplied work vehicle and tools.

 

Essential Functions

  • Test electrical systems using tools that include testing devices, tic tracers and blueprints to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility.
  • Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
  • Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisor.
  • Perform all electrical work to National Electrical Code Standards. Comply with all federal, state, local and Joint Commission standards.
  • Use ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on and around Thanksgiving Point properties.
  • Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort.
  • Prioritize workloads and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect electrical systems for effectiveness and safety.
  • Troubleshoot electrical system issues.
  • Repair damaged electrical systems and components.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all tools, equipment, and materials necessary to work effectively.
  • Assist other facilities technicians in completing maintenance, repairs, and projects, sometimes including working on HVAC systems and kitchen line equipment.
  • Complete other non-electrical work as assigned, including a variety of building systems repairs and maintenance that are assigned according to skillset.
  • Sometimes assist with event setup for large private and public events, where heavy lifting, tools or heavy equipment are required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician
  • 3 to 4 years experience as a journeyman
  • Critical-thinker, problem-solver
  • Organized- able to prioritize work orders, manage time effectively and manage inventory of materials
  • Able to correctly source compatible parts
  • Must hold valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Must pass background check
  • Maintain clean, professional image, communication and demeanor at all times in work interactions, whether with co-workers, internal customers or patrons

 

 

Schedule

40 hours per week. Regular schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:30pm with occasional off-hour or holiday work. Some schedule flexibility can be arranged.
