Thanksgiving Point Institute is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit farm, garden and museum complex that draws upon the natural world to cultivate transformative family learning.
Purpose of Positions: Responsible for the daily operation of the reception desk or Box Office, depending on where scheduled, answering the phones, selling event tickets, providing basic information to guests, selling memberships, working at public events, ticketing and seating. Most important, this position is often the first point of contact with our guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must be pleasant at all times especially when under pressure to keep up with the demands of many calls coming in.
Must stay current on all events and activities that are happening on Thanksgiving Point property and those events that are upcoming
Must be able to quickly learn the point of sale software used at Thanksgiving Point
Ability to sell, memberships and event tickets and anything else that is needed
Must be detail oriented and organized in a manner that will aid in being able best take care of our guests needs
Other Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the position and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned.
Knowledge and experience: Must complete GET training.
Must have or be able to learn, strong knowledge and understanding of Thanksgiving Point and who we are and what our mission is.
Communication skills: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to remain calm when dealing with upset guests and be able to resolve guest service issues
Physical Requirements and work environment: Mostly a sitting position. Must be able to twist, bend and lift up to 20lbs.
Attendance and Punctuality: This is a part time position that requires variable hours depending on the work load. Must be available Monday – Saturday, working most Saturdays and Holidays. Must be religiously on time. Hours may vary slightly depending on the volume of phone traffic especially when big events are close. Will be scheduled approximately 20-29 hours per week.
